I just submitted my MT final exam, and I am done! It will take about a week to receive my grade, and then I will be officially graduated. So now I start studying for the RMT certification and start getting ready for job search. WOO HOO

OMG. I spent the weekend at Hale Fire Glass in Madison AL, taking a beadmaking class from Trey Cornette. Trey is an incredible glass artist and excellent teacher. This was the first class I’ve taken since my beginners class over 2 years ago, and I’ve forgotten how energizing it can be to be in a group of people who all share the love of glass. It was awesome, and I’m just buzzing with new ideas and techniques and can’t wait to jump back on the torch. Unfortunately I have a major studio cleanup to finish before I can do so.
The bead here is kind of ugly and slightly “fried”, but it’s the biggest I’ve ever made at 70mm long!!! Just one of the many things we worked on this weekend.

Mom’s not the only “hippy” in the family. This is what happens when you spend 45 days in the Mohave Desert.

Oh yeah. Power tools are fun. Ok,so it was just an electric sander… but it MAKES NOISE! It VIBRATES!!! It generates a ton of DUST!!! The only thing it can’t do is set the house on fire (don’t worry, if I get to use it again, I’ll find a way).
I’m repainting an old, small 2-drawer end table, and thought all I really needed to do was sand down the few places where the existing paint was peeling. HA. HECK NO.. I sanded the crap out of that sucker until I was down to the bare wood. Yeah baby! {insert pig noises here}.
And, why is it when a woman uses a man’s power tools, he feels the need to hover and offer “advice” on the “best way” to do things… :rolls eyes: (well, maybe he knows me a little too well and thinks I’m going to “have a little accident”)

Mom thinks it’s just dumb, but I’m glad she lets me talk on her blog. I want to tell you about this chair. It is MY chair. Nobody else sits on this chair - JUST ME. The pillow stays exactly the way I want it. Mom moved it today, and it was not comfortable. I was not happy. I showed her I’m still the boss. …. Jump up on the chair, walk around in circles, nudge the pillow with my nose, roll around a little, and … YEAH … it’s all right again. Life is good. Ahhhhhhhh. Now back to some serious napping…….

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.
In honor of those who have lost their lives defending an ideal, our freedom, our way of life, their brothers-in-arms — please take a moment to remember and celebrate them today. It is hard for me to find the words to say what I feel for our fallen heroes.
There are 2 in particular who have touched my life in a small way this past year. PFC Ryan Garbs, KIA Afghanistan 2/18/07 Although I only knew him through his forum postings, news of his death at age 20 literally took my breath away. PFC Michael Titus, killed in a motor vehicle accident, good friend of Eric, his life taken tragically and so unfairly last year. Their souls are at peace, but my heart still breaks for the families and friends who will always love and miss them.
Thank you to all who have accepted the honor and duty of serving our country. You are all very much appreciated and loved.

The weary world-traveling troops of 2nd platoon have finally arrived back in Hawaii–minus their “pets” from the jungle! The chickens were pardoned and no longer have to fear The Shovel. The monkeys will have to find new victims.
Welcome back to civilization and the wonderful world of frozen dinners, high speed internet and not having to share sleeping quarters!! Woohooooooo! Job well done, and as always - we are proud of ya, “Sleazy E” !!!!!
